Accommodation at Mahogany Bay Village
Science + Soul Wellness is just one mile south of San Pedro, at the resort of Mahogany Bay Village. This unique enclave offers a variety of detached villas made from locally-sourced hardwoods and built by Belizean craftsmen. Built on a series of canals, there is easy access to town, our private beach, or other water destinations.
Accommodations include guest cottages, suitable for singles or couples with luxurious detached king suites, family cottages, suitable for large groups or families, and keeping suites, featuring 1 or 2 queen beds.
Belize is compact country, occupying about 9,000 square miles. But don't let its size throw
you off. Swimmers, snorkelers and scuba divers will discover paradisiacal spots along the
barrier reef like Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Mexico Rocks and the Great Blue Hole.
Wildlife-seekers will marvel at Belize's magnificent jaguars, pumas, howler monkeys,
parakeets and keel-billed toucans at the Belize Zoo. And culture hounds will reach new
heights exploring impressive Mayan archeological sites like Corozal, Altun Ha and Lamanai.
With so much to do, it can be difficult to decide where to begin in Belize, but don’t worry,
we are here to assist. But the logical first step is grab your bathing suit and savor a tropical
papaya or carambola (star fruit) along the coral reef or the beach.
Where is Belize?
The country is bordered by Mexico to the north, Guatemala to the south and west, and the
Caribbean sea to the east. With 312,000 people (2011 census), the population density is the
lowest in Central American and one of the lowest in the world making for wide open spaces
to explore and discover.
Belize’s relatively undiscovered status has been one of the country’s most exotic come-ons
over the centuries and the inhabitants from the time of its modern history have liked it just
that way. The area was the center of the vast Mayan Civilization founded about 2,000 B.C.
Dozens of pyramids and temples – most not yet excavated – can be found throughout the
country once known as Britis ondura.
Ambergris Caye is the big island, but before that it was a peninsula of Quintana Roo,
Mexico until many years ago the Mayas dug a channel making it officially an island and
eventually part of Belize.
With dozens of shops, quality native fast food, fresh gourmet dining, luxury hotels and
condos, some in the multi-million dollar range, and golf cart traffic jams. Ambergris Caye
has lots of space most folks do not realize the island is larger than Barbados.
Science and Soul Wellness is located on the island of Ambergris Caye, also known as San
Pedro. Although San Pedro is the town on the island, if you say you are going to San Pedro,
everyone knows you are headed to our island.
Diving, Nature, and Excursions
Belize is famous for the Blue Hole dive destination, however, the island of Ambergris Caye
hosts the world’s 2nd largest natural barrier reef making for incredible snorkeling and
Meanwhile, with just a short flight or fun boat ride, you can head to the mainland to enjoy waterfalls, Mayan Ruins, cave tubing, ziplining, jungle tours, the Belize Zoo and all manner of incredible nature and wildlife!
