Science + Soul Wellness and Mahogany Bay Village sit just a short distance from San Pedro town on the island of Ambergris Caye in the beautiful Caribbean country of Belize.
Steven and Paulette found Belize and knew instantly it would be the home of their soon-to-be world famous wellness center. English-speaking and a close commute to the contiguous United States, it's the home of a stunning culture, wondrous natural beauty and wildlife, and, now, wellness, peace and growth at Science + Soul Wellness.
Belize is a compact country, about 9,000 square miles, known for its vibrant culture, beautiful nature and wildlife, and friendly people.
Swimmers, snorkelers, and scuba divers will discover beautiful spots along the second longest barrier reef in the world, including spots like Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Mexico Rocks, and the world-famous Great Blue Hole.
Ambergris Caye, the big island and home of Science + Soul Wellness and Mahogany Bay Village, was once the peninsula of Quintana Roo, Mexico, until, many years ago, the Mayans dug a channel, making it officially an island, and eventually becoming part of Belize.
Around the island and in the town of San Pedro, you'll find dozens of shops, quality native food, fresh gourmet dining, luxury hotels and condos - some in the multi-million dollar range - and golf-cart traffic jams; Ambergris Caye has lots of space. The island is actually bigger than Barbados.
Wildlife-seekers will marvel at Belize's magnificent jaguars, pumas, howler monkeys, parakeets, and keel-billed toucans at the Belize Zoo. And culture hounds will reach new heights exploring impressive Mayan archeological sites like Corozal, Altun Ha and Lamanai.
San Pedro Town
The only town on our beautiful island is a picture postcard setting beside the clear turquoise sea. Coconut palms sway and rustle in the gentle cooling trade winds. Low rise hotels, guest houses, and boutique-style resorts and condos - from modest to magnificent - are nestled along the coast and throughout the town.
San Pedro will be your first stop on Ambergris Caye - either by boat or plane - and it will be a great hub for shopping, eating, and meeting new people. In short, San Pedro town will be a large part of most visitors' experiences of the island. The town makes a fine base for excursions to nearby attractions and the more distant islands and atolls. The stores are well stocked with a wide variety of food, and some of the country's best cooks take pride in their seafood specialties.
Oh, and the way around the island is by golf cart.
With so much to do, it can be difficult to decide where to begin in Belize, but don't worry, we're here to assist you in finding the perfect combination of adventure, relaxation, and wellness for you.
But the logical first step is to grab your bathing suit and savor a tropical papaya or carambola (star fruit) along the coral reef or down by the beach.
